The Royal Dutch Delftware Manufactory "De Porceleyne Fles", established in 1653, is the last remaining Delftware factory from the 17th century. The world famous original Royal Delftware is still entirely hand painted according to centuries-old tradition.

The paint with which the painters paint contains a special ingredient, cobalt oxide. This ensures that a chemical reaction takes place during the baking process. The transformation from black to blue thus takes place in the furnace. The different shades of blue are created by mixing the black paint with water.
